That’s the Tea! Jacket & Interior

For this project, I designed both the cover of the book and its interior pages. My goal was to design a modern tea book inspired by the simplicity of poetry book covers.

To begin the project, I started by visiting book stores to research current design trends and styles. Then, I turned to the internet for further investigation and began a mood board for the project. Before diving into the design, I worked through multiple thumbnails and roughs. I brought down my own set of vintage teacups from my cupboards to use as reference for my sketches. Once I was happy with them, I imported my sketches into adobe illustrator and digitized the illustrations.

After I completed the cover design, I worked through the interior pages. Again, I turned to real books to inspire the design aesthetic and to ensure I was creating professional looking pages. I used my knowledge of book interior layout and subsequent research to design the copyright, title and half title, dedication, table of contents, chapter pages, etc.
